The Pre-Assembly Report is a preliminary online report for voting members who will be attending the Saint Paul Area Synod assembly at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, on May 18-19. Please read this bulletin in advance of your participation so that you come well informed and prepared to understand the business before the assembly.

Note: The synod office will be closed on Thursday, May 17 to allow staff to set up for the assembly. General voice mail will be checked occassionally throughout the day and calls returned as necessary. The office will re-open on Monday at 12:00 noon.

flameAn invitation from the Revs. Paul Erickson and Susan Miller, assistants to the bishop

"The Church exists by mission, just as the fire exists by burning." -Emil Brunner, 1931

One of the joys of working in a synodical office is the chance to see, hear, and experience the many ways that God’s mission is alive and well in our congregations and communities. Of course, no two situations are the same, and there are some congregations who seem to have caught fire with a vision and passion for ministry, while others struggle so much to keep the home fires burning that their missional energy is sputtering.

Our hope and desire is that every congregation become a vibrant community of faith, witness, and service, deeply engaged in relationships with God’s word, with each other, and with their surrounding context. More
